There's nothing worse than overly-bulky gloves - but finally, we can offer these great-fitting Waterproof gloves that are both comfortable and easy-to-wear. So how do we make waterproof gloves? The answer is in the layering. We use a tough, durable outer layer that can cope with the rigours of yard life but is soft and comfortable to wear. For warmth we use a Thinsulte lining. And as the name suggests - Thinsulate - is a thin layer of insulation. Read below for more information about this fascinating fabric.* To make the gloves waterproof, we then an a micro-porous membrane (think Goretex). A few key words on Microporous. 1. this is a dry system which allows sweat to be vented instantly through the membrane. 2. Microporous works at all temperatures. 3. Microporous are hydrophobic (water hating) and resist the passage of water, even under pressure. Finally, we add a snug bottom layer to give an instant feeling of warmth. Again we ensure that this layer is as fine as possible without compromising its ability to add warmth and wick away any moisture (from your hands). We add extra length to the cuffs to keep out any draft. Touch screen compatible. Our gloves are washable. Simply pop them in the washer on a warm 40 degree cycle using only non-bio detergent. No fabric softener please as it clogs the membrane. Dry away from direct heat - direct heat can damage the membrane. *Thinsulate is a brand of synthetic fiber thermal insulation used in clothing. The word is a portmanteau of the words thin and insulate, trademarked by 3M. The material is made by the 3M Corporation and was first sold in 1979. It was originally marketed as an inexpensive alternative to down; at the time, 3M claimed it was twice as warm as an equivalent amount of any natural material.
